William “Chip” Cartwright II has been a Financial Advisor at Waddell & Reed for six years and in the industry for 11, including time spent as a District Manager. He focuses on helping individuals and families prepare for their futures with his guidance in the areas of Financial Planning, Social Security Planning, and College Planning. As one of six kids and a father himself, he knows how important it is for families to understand the options and opportunities available to them.
Chip graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Michigan where he played football for the Wolverines. He is also a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.
Though Chip grew up in southwest Michigan, he now calls Downers Grove, IL home. He lives there with his wife Erin, daughter Emilie, and son Connor. When he’s not at work you can find him running (occasionally in marathons), watching University of Michigan games, and enjoying time with his family.
At Waddell & Reed we spend our days focused on the ‘what if’ scenarios of the lives for our clients. Here are some ‘what if’ scenarios of our own:
What if you could only give one piece of financial advice? What would it be?
We know life is a journey, but we do not know when we’ll reach the final destination. My advice is to plan for tomorrow while still enjoying and appreciating every passing day.
What if you had the day off to do anything you wanted? What would you do?
I’d head up to Ann Arbor to spend the day there with my family watching a Michigan Football game.
What if you had the job you wanted when you were 5 years old? What would you be doing?
Major League Baseball Player
What if you had to describe yourself in three words?
Integrity, loyal, ambitious.
